AT&T Stores to carry iPad!

Posted by Hawered On February - 15 - 2010

A recent post on Macrumors, led me to Call AT&T’s local store in my area. I had to investigate what they knew. After a long andĀ involved process with trying to get a hold of someone, I finally got an answer from a nice representative. Our conversation went like this:

Me: Hello

Them: Hi, how may I help you today?

Me: I was wondering if you will be carrying the iPad?

Them: Yes! I do believe we will! I saw it in our inventory, let me check.

(I wait)

Them: umm, Do you mind if I put you on hold for a minute?

Me: No problem

(On Hold)

Them: As far as I know, we wont be carrying the iPad. This is what I was informed.

Me: Alright thanks

As you can see, there is a problem in that conversation. they said, yes they will be, and that is was seen in their inventory but they then said no. Why would they change their mind? Because they were “Just informed” that they were not allowed to say anything about it?

It seems to me that AT&T is trying to cover up, but I it seems like AT&T WILL be carrying the iPad in their stores.

Ubuntu 9.10, codenamed “Karmic Koala”, is the latest in the very user-friendly Linux distribution. With the final being released in just a few days, I thought I’d write an article about my experiences with it so far.

First off, boot time is greatly improved from the already snappy Jaunty Jackalope. With GRUB 2 and the newest GDM, it’s no question why either. Tons of behind-the-scenes changes are applied as well, and startup flies bye.

Once you’re in the desktop, the first thing you may notice is a new theme. The Ubuntu development team did a great job with the theme, and the “Humanity” icon set that goes along with it is wonderful to look at. It’s no longer a gross overuse of orange, and the community has decided upon several wallpapers for you to choose from.

The Ubuntu Software Center replaces the Add/Remove Software dialog, and it’s a joy to use. Its new design is spectacular and fun to navigate, as well as powerful. Almost as powerful as downloading a .deb package and installing it yourself. ;)

The newest GNOME desktop manager is included in this release, and it’s faster and more stable than the release included in the previous Ubuntu. There are some changes, such as Empathy replacing Pidgin as the default IM client, which makes for tighter integration.

Ubuntu 9.10 is a huge step forward for the Linux community, and it brings us leaps and bounds closer to the future of a Windows-free computing world. Karmic Koala is insanely fast, and I urge everyone to at least give it a shot, especially if you weren’t impressed when you first tried Linux and if you went back to Windows.
