AT&T Stores to carry iPad!

Posted by Hawered On February - 15 - 2010

A recent post on Macrumors, led me to Call AT&T’s local store in my area. I had to investigate what they knew. After a long and involved process with trying to get a hold of someone, I finally got an answer from a nice representative. Our conversation went like this:

Me: Hello

Them: Hi, how may I help you today?

Me: I was wondering if you will be carrying the iPad?

Them: Yes! I do believe we will! I saw it in our inventory, let me check.

(I wait)

Them: umm, Do you mind if I put you on hold for a minute?

Me: No problem

(On Hold)

Them: As far as I know, we wont be carrying the iPad. This is what I was informed.

Me: Alright thanks

As you can see, there is a problem in that conversation. they said, yes they will be, and that is was seen in their inventory but they then said no. Why would they change their mind? Because they were “Just informed” that they were not allowed to say anything about it?

It seems to me that AT&T is trying to cover up, but I it seems like AT&T WILL be carrying the iPad in their stores.

FM Radio Application For iPhone/iPod Touch In The Making

Posted by Hawered On November - 7 - 2009

Many sources that work closely with Apple, have revealed that Apple is in the making of an FM radio application of the iPhone and iPod touch.

This application would be like the “FM Feature” for the fairly new iPod Nano 5G. It supposedly will have the Live Pause feature, in-app-purchusing, although, I do think you will have to leave the app.

What I do hope to see is a way to listen to it outside of the app, like the “Music” application. I would also love to see a way to record and save to an FM playlist.

This application would be avalible on the:

  • iPhone 3G
  • iPhone 3Gs
  • iPod Touch 2G
  • iPod Touch 3G

This feature is available, and has been available for a while. It is just like the bluetooth that wasn’t enabled until the 3.0 update on the iPod touch.

I hope to see this feature rolled out soon, because I would enjoy listening to Christmas music after Thanksgiving.

Tell me what you think, would you like to see something life this rolled out soon? Leave a comment below.

Adobe Says “Thats It” With Message To iPhone Users

Posted by Hawered On November - 2 - 2009

Adobe Flash Player Error

Adobe has been trying to get apple to let restrictions go that make it impossible for Adobe Flash Player to run on Apple’s iPod Touch, and iPhone. It has been quite a while, and Apple has not made one move towards this. Adobe has said “That’s it” and is now just going to lay it out like it is.

When you try to install Adobe Flash Player on your iPod or iPhone, you will be greeted by a lovely message.

As you can see, a lovely message is displayed to users.

What is Adobe trying to accomplish? Are they trying to get users    to complain? Is this the way to do it?

Tell me what you think. Leave me a comment below.

Apple TV 3.0 Update, as well as iTunes 9.0.2 Released

Posted by Hawered On October - 29 - 2009

Apple TVToday Apple announced the new software version of the Apple TV, Apple’s probably least selling product. The Apple TV is a great product, don’t get me wrong, but it is way overdue for an update. The Apple TV has gotten a little more “Love-able” with this new 3.0 Software Update. (Sound Familiar?)

New Features Include:

  • A Totally redesigned menu, making it easier to rent movies, view photos and browse your device.
  • iTunes LP, yes, just like in iTunes.
  • Genius Mixes, yes its about time Apple!
  • Internet Radio, again a long needed feature

Apple TV just got slightly better, but not by much. It still needs a total redesign of the entire product. Apple is slacking on this, and it has been anticipated for over 3 years.

All in all the Apple TV is still not worth buying in my opinion, unless you enjoy your TV just as much as your computer. I do not and therefore view all my media on my Mac.

** Today Apple also updated iTunes, bringing you iTunes 9.0.2. WIth fixes for Apple TV 3.0 software, a new view for grid mode, and a few minor fixes.

iPhone likely Headed for Verizon in 2010

Posted by Hawered On October - 28 - 2009

Analyst says iPhone is likely headed for Verizon wireless in 2010.

From Cult Of Mac,

Maybe Apple still needs Verizon. That seems to be the opinion of one analyst, who predicts Apple views the wireless carrier as a way to grab even more marketshare. The view is contrary to last week’s thinking Verizon’s ‘Droid’ phone had scuttled any chances of a post-AT&T deal.

“In our view, diverse carrier support is a key element to driving global penetration of the iPhone (from ~3% share today of the total handset market),” Broadpoint.AmTech analyst Brian Marshall told investors. “Therefore, we believe the chances are high the iPhone will find its way onto the VZ network in 2H10.”

AT&T recently reported the iPhone comprised 90 percent of the carrier’s new postpaid subscribers during the September quarter – up from 57 percent the year before. AT&T activated a record 3.2 million iPhones during the September quarter, 40 percent of whom were new customers for the carrier.

Although Apple would suffer from the loss of what Marshall terms a “sweatheart” subsidy from AT&T, the Cupertino, Calif. company would make up the difference in volume. Experts believe Verizon could sell 14 million iPhones in 2011, garnering a cool $7 billion for Apple, which sells the handsets for $500 a pop.

Whether or not this will prove to be is true the true test, the test of time.

Ubuntu 9.10, codenamed “Karmic Koala”, is the latest in the very user-friendly Linux distribution. With the final being released in just a few days, I thought I’d write an article about my experiences with it so far.

First off, boot time is greatly improved from the already snappy Jaunty Jackalope. With GRUB 2 and the newest GDM, it’s no question why either. Tons of behind-the-scenes changes are applied as well, and startup flies bye.

Once you’re in the desktop, the first thing you may notice is a new theme. The Ubuntu development team did a great job with the theme, and the “Humanity” icon set that goes along with it is wonderful to look at. It’s no longer a gross overuse of orange, and the community has decided upon several wallpapers for you to choose from.

The Ubuntu Software Center replaces the Add/Remove Software dialog, and it’s a joy to use. Its new design is spectacular and fun to navigate, as well as powerful. Almost as powerful as downloading a .deb package and installing it yourself. ;)

The newest GNOME desktop manager is included in this release, and it’s faster and more stable than the release included in the previous Ubuntu. There are some changes, such as Empathy replacing Pidgin as the default IM client, which makes for tighter integration.

Ubuntu 9.10 is a huge step forward for the Linux community, and it brings us leaps and bounds closer to the future of a Windows-free computing world. Karmic Koala is insanely fast, and I urge everyone to at least give it a shot, especially if you weren’t impressed when you first tried Linux and if you went back to Windows.

For more information, and the official release date of Ubuntu 9.10, check out http://www.Ubuntu.com/
